These are cufflinks which will generate envy in those who see them but don't have them.
The opaque egyptian blue glass and glowing green-eyed dichroic glass centre is sure to get a reaction from those who glimpse your cuffs. 2cm square with a silver plated bar fixing.
So what is dichroic glass, I hear you say? Well it was originally developed by NASA and its contractors for use in satellite optics and visors. Multiple ultra-thin layers of different metal oxides are vaporised by an electron beam in a vacuum chamber. The vapour then condenses on the surface of the glass in the form of a crystal structure. This is sometimes followed by a protective layer of quartz crystal. The finished glass can have as many as 50 layers of these materials yet the thickness of the total coating is approximately 30 to 35 millionths of an inch. So now you know.
Handmade by me in Tollerton.
